ABC’s of Kindergarten

ABSENCES:  Teachers need a written excuse for all absences.  Your child will be counted tardy if he/she reaches the classroom after 8:15 am.

BACKPACKS:  Please make sure your child has a backpack or tote bag for school.  No rolling book bags please.  Backpacks will be needed daily for transporting items to and from school.  Please remember to check your child’s backpack everyday for the Daily Folder.

BIRTHDAYS:  Cupcakes or another treat may be sent in for your child’s birthday celebration at school.  Party invitations may be given out in the classroom ONLY if everyone in the class is receiving one, if your child is a girl and all girls are invited, or if your child is a boy and all boys are invited.  You may send in these invitations and we will make sure each child receives one.

BUS/CAR CHANGE:  Please notify me if there is any change in your child’s bus, car rider or day care routine.  I CANNOT make a change without a note in writing.  Please understand this is for your child’s safety.

CAR RIDERS:  If your child is a car rider you will need to get a car rider number that must be in your car each day that you pick your child up.  If you do not have your number you will need to go to the office in order to pick up your child.

CLOTHING:  Please send in a change of clothing in a bag labeled with your child’s name on it.   Please label the bag and the clothes.  The change of clothes will remain at school.  Please replace the change of clothes if your child should have to use them.  Also, please label any other items such as lunch boxes, book bags, etc. with your child’s name.  Please make sure that your child is dressed appropriately for the weather, as we will be going outside.

COMMUNICATION:  Please check your child’s Folder every day.  On Fridays I will email a class newsletter to inform you about important happenings and the curriculum covered for that particular week.

CONFERENCES:  Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held twice a year- once in November and once in February.

CRAIG ELEMENTARY – 770-978-5560

CURRICULUM NIGHT:  Held each August.  Please remember that this night is for parent attendance only.

HOMEWORK:  Your child will bring home a homework calendar each month.  Please sign it at the end of the month when each item is completed.  Your child will receive a treat for finishing.  A few weeks into the school year your child will also be bringing home a reading envelope each Monday.  Reading envelopes and reading logs are due back the next day.

LUNCH:  Lunches are $1.75.  Milk may be purchased for those bringing their lunch for $0.35.  Please send in all money in an envelope with your child’s name, my name, the amount and what the money is for.  The cafeteria offers breakfast also.   You are invited to eat lunch with your child at any time, however, please wait until after the third week of school.  We are working hard to get the children used to the routine before parents come to eat with their children.  There is a parent table for you and your child to eat at when you come and join them for lunch.  Please remember to check in at the office prior to meeting us.

MEDICATION:  All medication must be in its’ original container.  The school nurse dispenses all medication to students.  If your child needs to take medicine while at school please bring the medication to the school and give it to the school nurse.

NEWSLETTERS:  My classroom newsletter will go home each Friday.  Please make sure and read it.  It contains useful information about our class and the school including important dates for you to add to your calendar at home.

PARTIES:  We will have two class parties this year that you are invited to attend.  One party will be before the Winter Break and one at the end of the school year.

SNACK:  Please send in a healthy snack daily.  Juice is not allowed per administration.  Bottled water may be sent in to drink.

SUPPLIES:  Please remember to send in your child’s supplies as soon as possible unless you already have done so.

TARDINESS:  If your child is late to school you must walk them to the office and sign them in.

TOYS:  Please do not send toys in with your child.  Toys are often lost when they are brought to school.

THANK YOU:  Thank you so much for taking the time to read all of this information.  Please keep this handy for future reference.  I know together we will have a great year!
